Why uploads are often mislabeled

Mismatched metadata, pitch-shifted rips, and platform gaps create false labels.

Most tuning labels online are not verified. Anyone can upload a track and call it 432 Hz, Solfeggio, or anything else. Platforms rarely check.

Common causes of bad labels:

  • Pitch shifting is applied but the title is not updated
  • Uploaders copy descriptions without measuring the source
  • Different reference tunings are mixed in playlists

The fix is simple: detect, then retune if needed. hzdetect measures the actual reference by sampling notes and matching them to tuning tables.
